While I don't personally believe that gemstones possess any kind of "magical" properties, there's no denying that I love them, and I also really enjoy the history, lore, and symbolism that accompanies each type of stone. Clear quartz is one of my most frequently used stones, both because it matches virtually anything, and because it can be treated to take on other finishes and colors.
In ancient times, clear quartz was believed to be an eternal ice that was sent to earth by the gods, and until the late 1500s, it was commonly believed that quartz was fossilized ice. In actuality, quartz is one of the most abundant minerals found in Earth's continental crust, composed of silicon and oxygen.
Ancient Romans, Egyptians, and Greeks used quartz crystals as potent talismans, and the ancient Japanese believed that clear quartz was formed from the breath of white dragon. Today gemstone collectors consider clear quartz to be a symbol of healing and spiritual growth.

I also love quartz because it can be treated to take on other colors and finishes, making it a versatile stone that appears in many beautiful forms! Many of my gemstone necklaces have featured pink-, purple-, yellow-, green-, and blue-dyed quartz, and clear- and amber-colored quartz with a pearl finish.
Whatever the season or the occasion, there is a quartz stone to go with any outfit or meaning!
